Yemen Seismic System
In cooperation with the Geoforschungs-Zentrum (GFZ) SpaceTech signed responsible for the design, manufacturing and commissioning of seismic stations in Yemen that have been ordered and are operated by the Yemen Seismic Operations Center (YSOC) and delivered to Yemen in 2008.
This system contributes to the earthquake forecasting and Indian Ocean Tsunami Early Warning System.
In a first step the architecture of worldwide distributed seismic stations that are already operated in an off-line mode (on-site data storage and time delayed data analysis) by the GFZ has been amended by an on-line mode allowing the transmission of acquired data directly via satellite communication links to the GITEWS data centers.
As part of the set-up and commissioning of the sensor station, SpaceTech is responsible for the network management function, the autonomous control, failure rectification and overall management of the YESS station, the solar cells and their control as well as the data acquisition, processing and intermediate storage.
