Yemen Seismic System

In cooperation with the German Geoforschungs-Zentrum (GFZ) SpaceTech signed respon­sible for the design, manufacturing and commissioning of seismic stations in Yemen that have been ordered and are operated by the Yemen Seismic Opera­tions Center (YSOC). The delivery to Yemen was in 2008.

This system contributes to the earthquake forecasting and Indian Ocean Tsunami Early Warning System.

YESS System Concept

In a first step the architecture of worldwide distributed seismic stations that are already operated in an off-line mode (on-site data storage and time delayed data analysis) by the GFZ has been amended by an on-line mode allowing the transmission of acquired data directly via satellite communication links to the GITEWS data centers.

As part of the set-up and commissioning of the sen­sor station, SpaceTech is responsible for the net­work management function, the autonomous control, failure rectification and overall ma­nage­ment of the YESS station, the solar cells and their control as well as the data acquisition, processing and intermediate storage.
