Small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) do play an ever increasing role in space development activities, both in Germany and in Europe as they proved capable to provide services and products with a customer appreciated efficiency and flexibility.

SpaceTech focused since its very beginnings to achieve the position of the leading German SME space system provider. In the first years of operations it has in particular demonstrated its capabilities

• to develop into a provider for robust low cost operational satellite missions based on the company Flex-Sat concept with a focus on system level and satellite bus by successfully leading Phase A and B system level studies

• to evolve the company into an established mechanical subsystem / equipment manufacturer as a supporting step towards system provider by successfully developing and delivering such equipment to national and international customers

• to utilize the excellent staff experience and heritage to provide proficient consultancy and system engineering support to customers world-wide

• expand its business engagement into the area of environment monitoring, seismic sensor stations and measurement systems into a sound business mainstay

• consolidate and expand launcher marketing activities

The strategic planning of SpaceTech does foresee a continuation from system responsibility in early phases into system hardware development, testing and in-orbit delivery of small satellites. A major milestone in this development is the SpaceTech responsibility for the DEOS Client spacecraft. Furthermore SpaceTech is currently extending its engagement in remote sensing instruments for optical systems.
